If you know me, one of my tag lines is, "I'm here for the cake." I love my job; documenting beautiful wedding days for all of my couples. It's hard work, don't get me wrong I LOVE it! It's physical as well as mentally challenging creative career that comes with a a few perks. Getting to sample wedding cake from bakeries and shops from all over is definitely one of my favorite. Each one of these bakeries I'm showcasing offers cake tastings, delivery to your event, grooms cakes, and you should be able to rent your cake stand from them too!
Let me preface this post by saying I'm a Buttercream girl versus a Fondant girl so this post is going to showcase my personal tastes. SO, if you are a huge fan the more traditional wedding cake vibe, then keep on reading!
1. Shake Sugary: Located at 3304 St Claude Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117 in the Bywater, Shake Sugary Bakery creates beautiful tiered wedding cakes along with custom cupcakes, and all sorts of Handmade baked goodies certain to satisfy your sweet tooth. Check out this stunner at Whitehall Plantation.
2: Marguerites: 125 Commercial Square, Slidell, LA 70461 right off the I-10. I meet the team at this bakery at the Here Comes the Bride Wedding Show a few years ago. Marguerite's Cakes were set up next to me and my tastebuds did a happy dance when I had a chance to sample their offerings. Me and my then fiancé loved their cake so much that we booked this bakery for our wedding cake! We've shot a few handfuls of weddings where this bakery was booked for the wedding cake and they never disappoint! Not only are their wedding cakes incredible, but their cinnamon rolls and king cakes are pretty awesome too!
3. Kaykes by Kaylyn: Located In Abita Springs in St. Tammany Parrish, I met Kaylyn at the New Orleans Bride Bridal Show. Turns out her wife and my husband worked together in law enforcement. Small World!! As we got to talking, she told me about her business and she is a true sole proprietor and entrepreneur and I had to taste her confections! All I had to say, was holy wow!!! Kaykes by Kaylyn is a hidden gem in the community and she deserves all the shout outs and high fives we can give her. Her specialty is wedding cakes and celebration cakes and delivers. 4. Haydel's Bakery: 4037 Jefferson Hwy, New Orleans, LA 70121 Haydel's Bakery has been a New Orleans staple for three generations and has a very loyal local and national following. When it's King Cake season this bakery is shipping out their sweet treats all over the world but, for those couples getting married in New Orleans, this bakery is a hands down favorite for wedding cakes, grooms cakes. Check out this gorgeous perfect white confection from on offer weddings at the Hotel Mazarin in the French Quarter.
5. Mad Batter Bakery: 204 W Judge Perez Dr, Chalmette, LA 70043 Mad Batter Bakery charmed me from the moment I caught the sent of their incredible buttercream frosting at Hilah and Rud's wedding reception at Central City BBQ. I had my husband with me second shooting and assisting me that day and I WAS trying to be good and not have any cake, but, I failed. It was love and first bite and I absolutely loved the name of the bakery. A twist on the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, and the flavors and cake making skills to back up my mini-obsession, Mad Batter Bakery earned it's place in my top 5 Wedding Cake Cake Bakery's list!

Chasing Wang Baking Studio: Chasing Wang provided Alicia & Matt's wedding cake at The Chicory and it was spectacular. This Cake Studio specializes in elegant, ornate, higher end wedding cakes that are sure to catch your eye and remain in your memory long after your wedding day has passed.
